This blackened stainless-steel prong collar for Australian Shepherds is 58 cm long with a 3.2 mm prong - welded links are evenly spaced so that when your Aussie pulls, pressure spreads around the whole neck like a gentle pinch that redirects its focus. Made in Germany by Herm Sprenger.

Why this collar suits the Australian Shepherd

Aussies are fast, clever, and driven to chase and control movement - bikes, cars, joggers, and other dogs can trigger a sudden lunge. A prong collar gives this sensitive, quick-learning breed precise communication it understands instantly, distributing pressure evenly instead of loading the throat. The 3.2 mm medium prong is sized for a medium dog like the Aussie and works through a thick double coat.

Key benefits

Special black finish - striking, tactical look

Rust and corrosion resistant - keeps its finish over time

Smooth welded links - won't scratch your dog

Two rings for the leash - flexible use (control or dead-ring)

Made by Herm Sprenger, Germany - the global benchmark in prong collars

Technical specifications

Material: blackened stainless steel

Prong diameter: 3.2 mm

Total length: 58 cm (10 links)

Add a link: +3.5 cm each

Suitable for: medium dogs, short and long coats

Brand: Herm Sprenger (HS), Germany

Choosing the right size for an Australian Shepherd

Adult Aussies typically measure about 38-50 cm around the neck. Remove links for a snug, high fit on smaller females, or add a link for large males. Measure just behind the ears before ordering.

Safe fit & use

Never leave a dog unattended in a prong collar. Open the collar to put it on - don't pull it over the head. Fit it high and snug, but not tight. The blackened finish may transfer color to white fur, so it's best avoided on Aussies with large white collars.

Frequently asked questions

Is 3.2 mm the right prong size for an Aussie?
Yes - 3.2 mm is the medium size designed for medium dogs like the Australian Shepherd, offering clear communication without being oversized.

Will it work through a thick coat?
Yes - the prongs reach through a double coat to give even, consistent feedback.

Can it help with lunging at bikes and joggers?
Used with proper training, it gives you precise, humane control to interrupt herding-driven lunges and reward calm walking.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0738/0425/1392/files/Australian-Shepherd-Prong-Collar-Brass-Leash.png?v=1790256187
https://k9-industries.com/products/herm-sprenger-prong-collar-for-australian-shepherds-blackened-stainless-steel-medium-3-2-mm-made-in-germany
