Training Gear for the Alaskan Malamute
The Alaskan Malamute is a freight-hauling sled dog: big, strong and built to pull heavy loads for hours. Most adults weigh 75–100 lb, with a neck size of about 20–26 inches. Only heavy-duty gear with strong hardware lasts with this breed.
What You'll Find in This Collection
Wide 40 mm PowerFlex collars, extra-wide 50 mm options, heavy-duty 180 cm leashes, tactical collars with a control handle, and Herm Sprenger prong collars. Also 3D wire muzzles, lightweight muzzles, bite pillows, tugs and an orthopedic elevated bed for a large, heavy dog.
What Matters for This Breed
A Malamute's pulling power puts a lot of pressure on the neck. A wide collar spreads that pressure and is far more comfortable than a narrow one. The heavy coat makes measuring difficult, so part the fur and measure against the skin. Large, heavy dogs also benefit from an orthopedic bed that supports the joints.
