Training Gear for the Australian Shepherd

The Australian Shepherd is a high-energy herding breed with a sharp mind and a thick double coat. Most adults weigh 40–65 lb, with a neck size of roughly 15–20 inches. Their gear has to handle constant movement, water, mud and long days outdoors.

What You'll Find in This Collection

Waterproof PowerFlex (Biothane) collars in 20–25 mm and wide 40 mm, heavy-duty leashes, tactical collars with a control handle, and Herm Sprenger prong collars. There are also 3D wire muzzles and lightweight muzzles, bite pillows and French linen tugs, and an elevated orthopedic aluminum bed.

What Matters for This Breed

The Aussie's double coat makes sizing tricky. Measure with two fingers flat against the skin, not over the fur. PowerFlex doesn't absorb water or odor, so it suits dogs that swim and herd in wet grass. This breed needs mental work as much as exercise, so tugs and balls are real training tools, not just toys.

Handmade by Working-Dog Professionals

We make our muzzles, tugs, bite pillows and PowerFlex collars ourselves, by hand. Our gear has been used by trainers and working-dog units for over 25 years.

Australian Shepherd Gear – FAQ
