A professional retrieve dumbbell built for training, not just trialing. Two braided rope grip handles, each 25 cm (10 in) long and fixed securely to the side plates, give the handler control of the dumbbell during hold, carry and presentation work - so you can teach a correct, calm retrieve step by step.

Why rope grip handles?

Teaching a clean retrieve takes more than throwing a dumbbell. The handles let you hold, steady and gently guide the dumbbell while the dog grips the center, without your hands getting in the way of the bite. They make it easier to:

• Teach the hold - present the dumbbell and keep it steady while the dog learns a full, quiet grip.
• Correct chewing or mouthing - apply light, controlled pressure through the handles to encourage a firm, still hold.
• Build drive for the retrieve - use the handles to animate the dumbbell and create interest before the throw.
• Practice the front and the out - take the dumbbell back cleanly and consistently by the handles.
